From the Captain's Table, July 2019

Hi Everybody here is the July Newsletter. Great to see members getting out and about doing events. As far as overseas events go, we had Steve Rossiter in the Gold Coast half which seemed to go well as the temperature was not as hot as usual so some good times were had. We also had a good contingent of HRR at the “Steamy Huka” in Taupo which I hear was a bit slippery but still a great day out. Then something a bit different… Marlin doing basically a geocaching event but worke

From the Captain's Table, June 2019

Hi Everybody, welcome to the June Newsletter. It has been great to have had great support on club nights and weekend club events, even though we have less light and the temperature has cooled a bit. What seems to have backed up good numbers at HRR is the great fellowship after the events. Looking at the dinner nights, Group 2 did an outstanding job with over 60 plates going over the servery and then Group 3 were not too far behind on their dinner night either. A big thankyou

Hi Everyone, welcome to the May newsletter. What a busy month it has been. Rotorua Marathon - Congratulations to all eight HRR’s who ran the event on a fine Rotorua day. Great to see Lex get his 20th Rotorua Marathon Shirt and also Eileen who also managed to get on stage for 2nd IAG for the half marathon, which was a great effort as the course was a toughy. It was also great to see the HRR supporters out in force too. My thanks also to Wayne for sorting all the accommodation

From the Captain's Table, April 2019

Hi and welcome to the April newsletter. Although not too many events on offer over April we still have found enough to show our presence with events like Xterra Rotorua, Hamilton 4 Seasons Run, Waitomo Trail Run of which I see Ben Lucas making a longer foray into off road running and had a great day, so may well see him back on trail at some point. Also Waterfront Half was on, great to see Lee and Heather supporting this event with the surprise of Norm turning up to join the

Hi, and welcome everybody to the March newsletter. There seems to have been plenty happening lately and I thank the club for your support on all the events contested. Kirikiriroa Marathon – Well where do I start? I have been that impressed. We had four members running the full marathon and nine teams. Then there were all the HRR marshals at the turnaround water station and our Ann Street water station. What a fantastic turnout of HRR’s supporting this event. It was great to h

From the Captain's Table, November 2018

Hi everybody here is the November newsletter. It is great to see all those who have traveled back in time to make a full complement of HRR’s for the up coming Christmas meal and awards night. No doubt we will catch up on all the stories and sights from the New York and Queenstown contingent. With the Christmas meal night on Thursday 13th December it is a combined dinner so if everybody brings a dish of either entree, salad, or dessert… that would be great. The club will provi

From The Captain's Table, August 2018

Hi Everyone and welcome to the August newsletter. Also to our new members Anje, Shireen and Chris - welcome aboard. It is with sadness that we have lost one of our life members of our club, Barry Smith. From what I understand he was a great athlete in his own right both on road and track. Also had put a lot of energy into the Hamilton YMCA, Porritt Stadium and Hamilton Road Runners. It was pleasing to see a great representation from the club at Barry’s funeral. More on this f

Hi everybody, and here we are mid-year already. It is so pleasing to see that we have had so many visitors to the Club over the last few dark and cold winter months. I am more impressed that a lot of these people have joined us. Welcome to Phillipa, David and Jason. Just goes to show that the Club can still grow even through winter. Well done to you, and I may add one of the prettiest clip together medal sets I have ever seen. Their
