A few Road Runners participated in the Hospice Waikato Run/Walk for Life event on Sunday 4 March 2018, with Neil and Wayne completing the 10km and Chris the 5km. It was great to see the number of people supporting Hospice Waikato this year, with around 400 participants, more than twice last year's number (2017 was the first year the event was held).
The organisers have high hopes for next year, and it is sure to be another fun and enjoyable event. The following photos are s
It has been a big weekend for running in New Zealand and Hamilton Road Runners have been out enjoying the events. Locally, the Summer Series of Fun Runs kicked off with the Blueberry Run in Ohapo. The weather forecast was grim, but the lure of blueberry pies & ice cream was strong. And luck was on their side in the end - a dryish day, if a bit humid. Further afield, the start line of the ever popular Tarawera Ultra Marathon was proving less friendly. Super wet and muddy condi

Last weekend saw the annual Rotorua Ekiden (Relay) event. This is always a fun weekend away and well attended by Hamilton Road Runners. Well done to the organisers & all participants on the day, with special congrats to our Road Runners walking team taking the win in their race category, and Team Butterflies for their podium finish in the costumes. Another or the Road Runners team, A Class Act, put together an entertaining video story of their day: Some more photos from the d
Saturday 23rd-24th September saw another successful running of the Blue Lake 24hr Challenge: A self supported 6, 12 & 24 hours run around the Blue Lake in Rotorua (as well as a few friendly laps for the less ambitious - all were welcome). Hamilton Road Runners own Gary and Paula both completed incredible achievements on the day. Superwoman Paula managed to pound through 24 laps - 135Km, and at 5am (21 hours in) was still chatting & looking fresh. Gary also earned a prestigiou
Well done to all the Hamilton Road Runners at the 31st annual Mount Joggers and Walkers Half Marathon Event. The sun was shining and conditions were perfect for a run or walk along the Mount Maunganui waterfront and base track around Mauao (for the 10km, twice if doing the half). A section of the base track remains closed (after sustaining major slips in the recent storms), so a change to the regular route had participants going through the campground and part way up the moun
Rotovegas turned on the charm big time with a beautiful fine sunny day for the 53rd running of the Rotorua Marathon. After surviving the photo shoot at the start Eileen and her intrepid helpers got under way with the goal of securing the ultimate prize of a Survivors 15th year T Shirt for her firmly fixed in our minds. We need not to have worried about her commitment as the pace was hot from Km 1 and there was no time to dily daly around, it was business time and she started
