Vicky's Voice
What an awesome weekend watching and supporting you all doing the Kirikiriroa Marathon. The weather couldn't have been better.
Congratulations to everyone taking part, especially Rod, Daniel and Kevin who came first in the men's relay - we hope to see the trophy on Thursday! See the full results in Stu's stats at the end of the newsletter.
This weekend is even more hectic with many of you taking part in the Possum and of course we have our first event in our Club Champs Series - the 1km. See further on in the newsletter for more details on the Club Champs.
Thank you to everyone for your feedback on dinner nights and Anna's stretching session. I have met with the committee and we are taking your feedback on board. For dinner nights we will continue to host on the last Thursday of each month. We will also accept online registration and ask you to confirm if you can help with set up or clear up so we can share the load. Your feedback on the strength training was extremely positive and we look at this monthly too. Watch this space for details.
Let's hope the crisp weather continues for Fieldays Week and make sure you check out the awesome sunsets we've been having round the Lake on Thursday's. A reminder to bring your high viz and lamps and please tilt your headlamps so as to not blind oncomers. I'll be heading out for a 40 minute progression run (whatever that is) if anyone wants to join.
Good luck to all of you racing this weekend.
See you Thursday!
Vicky
Club champs 2023 - 1km This Sunday is the first event, the 1km dash starting at Korikori park in Rototuna at 9am (sharpish), same venue as last year. We've got timekeepers and a record keeper but need a couple of volunteers on the day to help out with Marshalling and finish tokens. Let the Run Director (Gary) know if you can help out. Remember to make sure you've renewed your membership this year to be in the running for the trophies. Alfies afterwards for recovering and bragging. Volunteers for the rugby this weekend Thanks to the 5 people that have put their hands up to help out this Saturday night, 5 more are needed, please reply to yesterday's email as soon as possible if you can help out. A note from Andrew A personal thanks to everyone that helped out at the Kirikiriroa Marathon this weekend. The event had difficulty getting the required number of volunteers this year and between that and the last minute changes to the new course I know it put a lot of extra pressure on you during the day, way more than we thought. But..You guys were amazing, this is confirmed by the feedback from the entrants who had a great day. Without your help it would have been impossible to go ahead. The Marathon committee will be getting feedback from HRR on what can be improved and I'm sure it will be all taken on board. It was great seeing you all at Grantham street and I'll make sure I have some cramp stop next time Olive, sorry about that. Saturday Parkrun day! Lauren's the boss at University this week and a bunch of HRR volunteers helping make both Hamilton events happen as usual, you guys are amazing. Rugby volunteering in the evening.
