Vicky's viewpoint (Club Captain's report) Well that was another eventful weekend. Well done to everyone for amazing runs and walks at Huntly and the Skedaddle. I want to say a HUGE congratulations to Michelle for getting her first sub 2 hour half marathon at Huntly this weekend (a week after Rotorua half!) - Great to see the Garmin plan paid off! And then to Rod for making an awesome recovery from the Rotorua marathon and smashing out his 150th half marathon...he still had enough energy to sprint at the end that we couldn't catch him with the 150 balloons!! The 10km was a nice but hilly course, however it will definitely be a Sunday run with another visit to Hopin Stopin cafe in the future, but we've got plenty of other places to explore first. This weekend is Phill's Sky Tower run in Auckland in his fireman's uniform! All the best Phill we know the training will pay off and you will be one of the first to the top! Thank you to everyone who donated their time to help at the rugby so we could contribute to Phill's fundraising efforts. If you would like to find out more about the Tower Run and Phill's motivation click checkout the following link https://firefighterschallenge.org.nz/phill-moore For any parkrun tourists a few of us are heading to Millwater parkrun on Saturday. If you haven't yet ticked this one off it is a really nice course and run by a great team. Anna Armstrong will be at the Club this Thursday to run a strength and conditioning session for those who want to participate. The session will take place after more waffle from me (5:40) and last approximately an hour so there will be time to go for a run/walk after. We'll collect feedback from participants to judge Anna's ongoing session requirements. This is funded by the club at the request of several members earlier in the year so let's hope we get lots of support for this on Thursday. See you on Thursday! As a Hamilton-based strength coach and avid runner, I am thrilled to be leading some Thursday night strength sessions for HRR. We will be focusing on building core, hip, and glute strength to prevent common injuries and improve mobility in ankles and hips.
