Vicky’s Voice
Wow another epic weekend with a great turn out at We Run The Forest (I’m gonna be jealous seeing everyones buffs and shirts) and a very busy night at the rugby. And what an awesome time we had on Sunday! Thank you so much to Steve and Olive for hosting us - it could have not been a nicer morning. It was nice to see HMC join in with us too.
This week is also full on.
Anna is back on Thursday for our monthly stretch session - having missed it last month I know it’s gonna hurt! Also 10km club champ results.
Friday night some of us are heading to Smith & McKenzie for the cheesecake festival at 5:30pm. Member Phill had a cheesecake in the festival as part of the volunteer firefighters so come and try the cappuccino and malteser cheesecake (a runner's dream right - coffee and chocolate).
Saturday we are trying out a pub run for those who wish to join us meet at Roaming Giant for 1pm.
SJ has also suggested a Maungatautari Sunday Run for world conservation week. See further on in the newsletter for details. Remember if you have any ideas of locations to run just let me or the committee know.
See you Thursday!
Vicky
Thursday 5:30 sharp(ish)
This months session with Anna.
There's usually a few of us that will get an early lap of the lake in before the fun stretching etc begins
And of course the already bendy people will be out running
Saturday
Parkrun - At Uni Marlin is parkwalking for the fast walkers, Tau is tail walker for the social walkers (Thanks for the company on Sunday Tau), Gary is a timekeeper so may push the button early for coffee.
Pub run 1pm (details above)
Sunday
Meet at the Marae on Hicks Road, Maungatautari. Options to run up and down the hill on the 4x4 track or do the loop track via the off road trail. Warning the off road trail is quite gnarly so trail shoes are advised. Bring water.
Podium at Karapiro for coffee afterwards.
Uniforms If you've ordered a uniform and haven't picked it up, Gary has a box of goodies on Thursday night, track him down. Community donations Hopefully you know that the club donates a portion of the fundraising we do with Rotary at the rugby etc back to community groups (If not have a chat about it at club night, we're pretty awesome. After the super rugby finals, Fifa world cup and Warriors game we have some funds in the community fund that need to be distributed. We regularly support Achilles, Cancer Society, Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter and recently also assisted Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ (Phill's skytower fundraiser) and Prostate Cancer NZ after the recent loss of Stu Ross to the disease.
The Committee intention is to involve all members in the distribution of our Rotary Donations so would like to hear your ideas as to who you think we could support that does great work in the Community. Please reply to the email with some details around what they do or have a chat to one of the committee members.
Memorial Relay
We're still making sure we can find someone that can feed you all (Kerin eats a lot of food) but pencil in Sunday Morning 1 October at the Arboretum and then lunch to follow later for this awesome annual event.
