Club Newsletter 5/9/23

Vicky's Voice Last week the Super Moon really put on a show outside the clubhouse and the dinner night was a success with a selection of top notch dishes from the chefs! Glad to see James didn't let us down with the beer photo...mid race might I add!! He completed his 100km and in a respectable time considering the terrain and weather! Well done James. See the full results in Stu's Stats. Also a huge congratulations to Tau on her 100 volunteers at parkrun! Tau is a huge part of parkrun (especially at the lake) and is most famous for her singing!!! Well done Tau and thank you for all you do at parkrun! It's officially the end of winter because there are no more Xterra events. Well done to SJ and the Van Bosch's for completing the whole series! I have decided I don't want another full winter in NZ so I am investigating going to New Caledonia for their Marathon/Half/10k event in August 2024. Watch this space for details. Speaking of weather, fingers crossed that Kinloch isn't a wash out like last year! Good luck to everyone taking part and hope you stay dry! As always there is plenty coming up and I am really looking forward to the relay, and post relay memorial dinner at the Roaming Giant. Make sure you reply before the 16th September so I can organise the teams! Link further down in the newsletter. See you all Thursday! Vicky Important: Trophies Can we please have all trophies returned for refurbishment and preparation for this years awards! Memorial Relay - 1st October Our Memorial Relay takes place on Sunday 1st October. This year our memorial dinner will be in the function room of the Roaming Giant. Cost to members is $20 per person. Book your attendance at the relay and/or lunch by the 16th September. Important: T-Shirts Call out to anybody who ordered t-shirts and haven't yet picked them up, please do so soon otherwise we will make them available for anyone to purchase! The Lodge for Tarawera If you are looking for somewhere to stay on Tarawera weekend there is availability at the lodge, which many people have stayed at before. For more details please speak with Jane Roche. Member of the month Congratulations to Alison Marshall our club member of the month. And to celebrate Alison recorded another all time Parkrun PB on Saturday. Saturday It's time for a roadie in Millwater but the usual parkruns are happening too. Marlin is taking charge of Uni again this week and plenty of HRR volunteers are out there making these events happen as usual, great stuff. If you were at Uni last week you would have seen Vicky and Stu lay down a challenge to see how much Parkrun merch you can wear at one time. If you think you can meet the challenge get your pics up on the FB page. If you can't access the Hamilton Roadrunners Locked Up club Facebook page request access, its open to any current members. If you've done something awesome tell us about it. Sunday Runday Meet at Breaking Bread at 9am. Cafe booked for 10:15. Say hello to HMC who will also be there. Who's on the Committee? If you're wanting to talk to someone on the committee directly, look out for Sarah Jenkins, Andrew Marshall, Vicky Brewin, Gary Fields, Helen Hall-King, Stu Meads, Anna O'Connell, Olive Adams, Michelle Pryde, Marlin Fisher and Wayne Reynolds at any of our club events.
